New York Yankees is looking to improve its roster for Season 2022 of MLB taking into account the elements they have on their roster and those available in the free agency market. According to reports, the Bronx organization has in mind the explore the market for center fielders as they would look to fill in for Aaron Hicks in this position.
Aaron Hicks and Brett Gardner were the center fielders the New York Yankees had in the 2022 campaign, but the latter went on to become a free agent, thus remaining only with Hicks.
This has led the Bronx organization to consider exploring new options to cover the central prairie and not relying on Hicks, who has not been consistent in his work.
“I think I need to explore center field as a possibility. If there are things that make sense to us it is that obviously Aaron (Hicks) has had a history of injuries in recent years,” said Brian Cashman.
Aaron Hicks suffered a wrist injury last May that required surgery and caused him to miss almost all of MLB 2021. He is currently playing winter baseball with the Leones del Escogido at LIDOM as part of attempts to get him to the point at Spring Training.
