A fellow coach on Snitker’s staff with the Braves, Walt Weiss, is another candidate with ties to A’s who is looking to return to a managerial role. His roots in Oakland date back to 1985, when he was selected in the first round of the Draft by the Athletics and won the AL Rookie of the Year two years later.
Weiss’s first opportunity to coach came with the Rockies. He spent four seasons at the helm in Colorado from 2013-16 and compiled a 283-365 record before leaving office and then joining the Braves as bench coach in 2017.
