Scotty 2 Hotty reveals that Vince originally wanted Too Cool to get married on an episode of Raw

Scotty 2 Hotty appeared this week on “Talk Is Jericho” to discuss WWE’s plans for Too Cool.

“I was sitting at home on a Wednesday. He hadn’t worked in months. I am ready to be released any day. I’m waiting for that phone call because they’re not using me, he said.

“They called me on Wednesday. WrestleMania XIV was going to be in Boston on Sunday. They said, ‘We need you for WrestleMania on Sunday, but we also have a show on Friday.’ I fought against Taka Michinoku. Then on Sunday I was in a newly released tag team battle royal there, me and Brian Christopher.”

“The day of WrestleMania, I went to the catering for coffee. There was no one else for a mile, and while I’m making coffee, here comes Vince McMahon. He is having a coffee. I said, ‘Thank you for putting me at WrestleMania.’ That’s really cool. I know you have me with Brian Christopher, who is too hot Brian Christopher at the time. It was just a couple of years before that I used the name Scott 2 Hot Taylor on some independent shows. I threw that at him.”

“The following week, I was 2 Hot Scott Taylor, he was Too Sexy Brian Christopher, and together we were Too Much. We were like the back-and-forth gay duo,” Scotty laughed.

“Then we got to the point, and this was the first time I met Stephanie (McMahon). I think he was about 18 years old. We were on TV somewhere and she was spending the day with Vince. He came up to us, and I’ve barely had a conversation with him since the cafe at WrestleMania, and said, ‘You know, we’ve seen tag teams come and go over the years, but we’ve never seen tag. Teams bond for life. I want to do a wedding where you guys get married on Monday Night RAW. We’ll have all the other guys outside in tuxedos clapping.’”

“I’m like 23 years old, and I’m thinking, I just became the heel promoter with the whole Bret Hart thing, so in mind, I’m trying to justify that I can do this. A year later, we could say that heel’s promoter forced us to do this, and we came out as babyfaces. I’m trying to justify every idea in my head. Brian just wouldn’t. He had wrestled for his father in Memphis for years and years and had a solid salary there, so I’m sure he had a backup if he had to go back there. He adamantly refused to do the tag team wedding, which Billy and Chuck later did. We said no. It must have been May 1999 when we made a backstage tape earlier saying that Too Much was dead, and now we’re known as Too Cool.”
