AEW superstar Chris Jericho recently spoke to Busted Open Radio to discuss a wide range of topics before ALL OUT.
Within the interview, Le Champion predicted that AEW would start beating WWE Monday Night Raw in television viewership ratings soon and explained why.
“When we, you know, beat them (NXT), that’s the word you used, and now they’re rebranding and reconfiguring because what else can they do? They are number two when it comes to what they were trying to do in this battle. But here’s the best part, we never cared about NXT and we never paid attention to what they were doing. We were seeing what Raw is doing and what Smackdown is doing.
“If you want to talk about a war, that is the real war. If this is Game of Thrones, NXT was the first wave we went through. We are storming the castle. We are storming the fortress. I think that’s one of the things that is happening now also when you see, this week AEW beat Smackdown and in the demo 18-49 or 18-34. Even winning one or two of those is a big deal. Sooner or later, we are going to start beating Raw. It’s not going to be every week, but I bet you that in the next two to four months, maybe four to six, we’ll start beating Raw and that’s my prediction that I’m telling you right here.
“The reason for this is because we keep talking about the ‘cool’ factor, but it’s history and we don’t panic. No hurry. We live in our own world, our AEW world. We do smart booking. If you watch our show, it’s like watching the first three episodes of Star Wars. One thing always leads to the next and sometimes you will see something where the seeds were planted months before, but we all know what we want to do and where we want to go, ”he said.
