Buddy Murphy Announced As New NJPW Wrestler

Buddy Matthews, formerly known as Buddy Murphy in WWE, was announced last night as a new NJPW wrestler during the NJPW Showdown recordings made in Philadelphia.

During At the recent recording of New Japan Showdown in Philadelphia, fans learned of the upcoming arrival of the former WWE wrestler to the company. The announcement was made through a video in the arena, promoting the upcoming debut of the former Buddy Murphy.

Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion will make his company debut at the Battle In The Valley event, which is scheduled for November 13 in San Jose, California.

Murphy was fired from WWE last June

Buddy Murphy was one of the Superstars fired on June 2, 2021, WWE released Murphy due to budget cuts.

He started in WWE in 2013 when he signed a development contract with the company. Initially, Buddy Murphy teamed with Wesley Blake in NXT where they won the tag team titles with Alexa Bliss as manager. Already on the main roster, he began his solo career and became a cruiserweight champion of the company.
