Big E says he will be “at peace” if he ends his wrestling career

Big E

During an interview with TMZ SportsBig E spoke about his possible future in the ring.

Big E suffered a broken neck during a match on the March 11 episode of SmackDown. Him as he took an overhand suplex at ringside on Ridge Holland. Big E landed on his head, fracturing his C1 vertebra and C6 vertebra.

When asked if he thinks he’ll be able to get back in the ring, Big E said they’re taking a wait-and-see approach.

“It seems like it’s one of those wait-and-see things. It’s one of those things where, initially, when I talked to Dr. [Joseph] Maroon, who has been great, really great, in Pittsburgh, and suggested, ‘Hey, let’s take a look at this in a year. And that was after looking at my last set of scans. So I can’t really say. I don’t know if I’ll be back in March and 100 percent or if they’ll look at it and say, ‘Hey, maybe you should be doing something else with your life. For me right now, March of next year is a long way off. So I don’t want to spend a lot of time worrying or stressing about it. I’m just living my life,” Big E said.

“I have been in this company for 13 years. That means plenty of Saturdays and Sundays in Poughkeepsie and Kalamazoo and more random cities. But now I get to live my life a little bit and see some friends and I’m enjoying just being human.”

TMZ Sports asked Big E if he would be happy if he could never wrestle again.

“Yes I think so. Honestly, my philosophy as a human being is to learn to be content with whatever life brings you. I am very grateful that I am not in a wheelchair, but if I were, I would have to adjust to life in a wheelchair. That’s how I’m programmed. If I spend hours or days or weeks mourning where I am in life, and life isn’t what I want it to be, that doesn’t serve me,” he said.

“Worrying about it, stressing about it just hurts me. It is not useful. I think I’ll be at peace with whatever happens. If I can fight again, I’ll be at peace with that. If I can’t fight again, so be it. My limbs work. I can do this [mueve los dedos]. It could have been very different for me. There is a lot of life to live in spite of everything.”
