Zidane’s “no” to PSG has a reason for weight

Unless there is a radical turn of events, PSG’s next coach will not be Zinédine Zidane. In fact, Nasser Al Khelaïfi, president of the Parisian club, has been explicit about it: “I love Zidane, he was a fantastic player, with an incredible class. He was also an exceptional manager, with three Champions League titles. But I will tell you one thing: we have never spoken to him, directly or indirectly. Many clubs are interested in him, also several national teams, but we have never spoken to him. When I say “we”, I mean PSG. I am the president of PSG and I have never discussed anything with him.”

The Marseillais coach has preferred to wait for the French team and, although there were very important advances in the negotiations with the Parisian team, the agreement never came about.

According to RMC Sport, the current Ligue 1 champion came to prepare the official statement that was going to announce Zidane as the new coach given the considerable progress in the negotiations between both parties. However, Zizou decided to wait for the French team. Taking control of Deschamps is still his dream and this one is getting closer to taking place, since the French coach does not renew and everything indicates that the World Cup in Qatar will be his last official tournament with ‘Les Bleus’.

As RMC Sport reports, Zidane has never closed the door to training with PSG. He simply considered that it was not the right time to succeed Pochettino, even more so with the French team’s train nearing candy. The fact of being from Marseillais was not an impediment for him to take the reins of the Parisian bench, since he was always a professional and would have been in Paris.

Galtier, the favorite

Christophe Galtier, 55-year-old coach of Nice, will be Pochettino’s successor on the PSG bench. The current Ligue 1 champion will pay €10 million to acquire his services (he has a contract until 2024). Al Khelaïfi, on the possible signing of Galtier: “No, not at the moment. We have a list of coaches, we are discussing with Nice, it is not a secret. I hope we find an agreement quickly, but I respect Nice and President Rivère, each one defends his interests”.
