The attorney general of the Nicolás Maduro regime, Tarek William Saab, requested the capture and indictment of soccer commentator Fernando Petrocelli for “symbolic violence and promotion of hatred” after retweeting and commenting on an obscene song against the wife of Argentine star Lionel Messi.

“Designated National Public Prosecutor 94 to request an arrest warrant and indictment of the subject Fernando Petrocelli for the crimes of symbolic violence and promotion of hatred due to gender discrimination: against the citizen Antonella Roccuzzo, wife of LIONEL MESSI, ”Saab wrote on Twitter.

The prosecutor accompanied the message with a capture of a retweet made by the Venezuelan journalist, living in Argentina, of a user who proposed “hot songs” against the Albiceleste team.

Petrocelli retweeted the message: “Good song. Make a note for Thursday. I would change the ending for the sensitive ones and it could be ‘with Antonella we are going to enjoy’ hahaha.

The 37-year-old journalist deleted the tweet, criticized by hundreds of users, and wrote an apology before the order of the prosecutor of the dictatorship.

“I am deeply sorry that my comment yesterday offended the ladies, whom I have always respected at all times. I offer my sincere apologies. My reference was to the court songs that exist in Argentina. I was wrong. It was not my intention to offend them, ”he said.

The authorities of the regime have detained people for comments on social networks, usually when they are critical of the regime of Nicolás Maduro or his relatives.

Two firefighters, for example, were arrested in 2018 for a video in which they were walking a donkey through the station calling him “President Maduro.” A family said, that same year, that they were evicted from a house assigned to them by the regime, supposedly for mocking an “attack” against the dictator in a message posted on a WhatsApp group.

Several of these cases have been framed in the Law against Hate, approved at the end of 2017 by the ruling Constituent Assembly and denounced by the opposition as an instrument to “criminalize dissent”.

AGAINST MESSI

This Wednesday a journalist turned on social networks by highlighting the highest figure of Venezuela and for comparing him with Lionel Messi. “Soteldo is more than Messi”, assured the rapporteur Edgardo Marquez, who compared the football presents of the MLS Toronto FC midfielder and the Argentine captain who made his PSG debut.

“It is not nationalism! It’s reality! Today, Yeferson Soteldo is more than Lionel Messi. In dynamics in the field, it is more the Venezuelan. Hopefully the collective game of ours can overcome not only absences but also lack of work. How many believe it? ”, The Venezuelan journalist published on his Twitter account, which had wide repercussions.

“I honestly didn’t like Messi’s debut at PSG. If that’s your level today, I think ours is higher. Let’s see what the party says! ”, justified Edgardo Márquez, who already palpitates the previous match in which Lionel Messi will be one of the starters, despite the fact that the Argentine coach, Lionel Scaloni, did not confirm the team.
