Movistar Plus+ will offer all LaLiga matches after an agreement with DAZN

Movistar Plus+, Telefónica’s television platform, will be able to broadcast all the matches of each day of LaLiga Santander from the next 2022-23 season After signing an agreement with the DAZN television platformwhich had been awarded five matches per day in the last competition for national audiovisual rights.

In this way, the Telefónica platform, which had achieved five games per day in the period between the 2022-23 and 2026-27 seasons, adds the other five weekly meetings obtained by the British platform. For this, Telefónica will disburse a total of 1,400 million euros until the 2026-2027 season (280 million euros per season). In addition, it will be able to offer it with a 15% discount compared to the costs of the previous package, the company has stated through a press release.

This is in addition to what was agreed in the award for the broadcast of LaLiga matches in the last contest for national audiovisual rights, in which both operators undertook to disburse LaLiga 4,950 million euros throughout the period.

The agreement means that the British operator will include its five meetings within the offer that it already has integrated into Movistar Plus+where it already offers the Formula One, MotoGP, Copa del Rey soccer championships and the Euroleague basketball championship. Of course, the production of those five games will continue to be carried out by DAZNwhat It will incorporate a new team of presenters, narrators and commentators to give its own style to the broadcasts.

For their part, subscribers to DAZN who are not Movistar Plus+ customers will not be able to see the whole day, but they will only have access to the five games awarded to the internet television platform (OTT). Nevertheless, DAZN can still choose to broadcast Telefónica matches on its platform through the mandatory wholesale offer that the operator has to offer by the conditions imposed by the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) when it bought Digital+.

The operation involves “expanding the current partnership” between the British platform and the Spanish operator, with the aim of “making premium sport more accessible to a growing number of fans in an easy, flexible and innovative way“, as declared by the commercial director of the group DAZNJacopo Tonoli, through a statement.

For your partthe president of Movistar + Sergio Oslé, has underlined that the agreement guarantees “access to all Movistar + clients to the main competition of our football during the coming seasons. The agreements reached with LaLiga and DAZN reinforce the relationship with the best partners to continue promoting our Infinite Stadium with an unparalleled sports offer”.
