Milan wins, the Madonnina derby triumphs

Milan triumphed in a Madonnina derby in which the clear winner was football: there were great goals, intensity, grit, quality, some anger and the extraordinary atmosphere of San Siro with its tifos. The result confirms the outcome of last season, with the Milanese teams very close, and the Rossoneri a hair further ahead. The outfits made it clear that they were going to entertain us right away. The first emotion was a very tough face-to-face after a high-speed duel between Dumfries and Theo, both booked.

After coming close to an own goal with Bastoni, who hit the crossbar with a header, Inter finished off their rivals’ best moment thanks to Brozovic, who, forgotten by De Ketelaere (the Belgian was replaced by Brahim in minute 63), attacked the space behind the defense and won heads-up with Maignan. Milan’s reaction came before the break, and with a little help from the rival. Calhanoglu missed a horizontal pass, Tonali stole his bag and gave it to Leao, who put the tables with a left footed shot to the top corner.

The restart was even more spectacular. In 54′, Giroud completed the comeback after a pass from Leao himself with a precise shot at the first touch in the heart of the area, a classic of his repertoire. After six minutes, the Frenchman returned the favor to his teammate with a backheel that the former Lille player couldn’t take better advantage of. Leao penetrated the area, getting rid of the entire rival defense with his speed, and beat Handanovic again with a cross shot. He had never scored goals in a derby and was unlocked twice. His great goal, however, did not sentence the match, far from it. The game changed its script again in minute 67, when the newly entered Dzeko pushed a Darmian center between the sticks.

Team Shield/Flag

That’s where the Maignan show startedanother hero rossonero pm. The goalkeeper neutralized the attempts of the Bosnian, Lautaro and Calhanoglu with all kinds of saves. He preserved a long-suffering and fundamental victory, because everything indicates that the fight for shield be again a Milanese question. If so, the winner would sign up before his fellow citizen the second star on his shield. Almost nothing…
