Belgium prepares a tribute to Christian Eriksen, a Danish player who fainted in the debut of his team in the Euro, as revealed by forward Romelu Lukaku
The Belgian and Inter Milan National Team forward Romelu Lukaku revealed that they will pay tribute to Christian Eriksen during the match they will hold tomorrow against Denmark for the second day of the Eurocup Group Stage.
At a press conference, Lukaku, Eriksen’s teammate at Inter Milan, indicated that they will take advantage of the match against the Danish team to recognize the midfielder who vanished on the field in Denmark’s opening match.
“When Eriksen is applauded in the 10th minute, we will throw the ball out and applaud. It is normal,” he said.
Regarding what happened to Eriksen, the Belgian striker considered that it would be important for all footballers to receive basic training to know what to do in such situations.
“When you see what Simon Kjaer has done for him. It’s very important. It would not be bad if we, as footballers, could have a course to know what to do in those situations“, he indicated.
On whether he has managed to communicate with his Inter Milan teammate, Lukaku indicated that he has spoken with the midfielder but is aware that the Dane mainly needs the support of his loved ones.
“He told me he was fine. I told him to take all the time necessary and that I am here for whatever he needs. Tomorrow I will write to you again. Now he needs to be with his family“he commented.
Finally, regarding the match against Denmark, Romelu acknowledged that it will not be an easy match due to the quality of the Danish squad as well as their need to win the match to keep hope of qualifying for the next round of the EURO.
“Tomorrow for us will be a tough and difficult test, the Danes will be even more motivated. It will be important to see our mental and technical response,” he said.
