Héctor Herrera points to Atlético’s eleven against Levante

In the Atlético de Madrid training sessions, it was observed that the Mexican Héctor Herrera participated with the starting team that would face Levante

Mexican midfielder Héctor Herrera points to Atlético de Madrid’s starting eleven for this Thursday’s duel against Levante in which the offensive trident with Luis Suárez, Joao Félix and Antoine Griezmann could be repeated.

Herrera was already part of the tests carried out yesterday by the rojiblanco coach, the Argentine Diego Pablo Simeone, and trained together with the theoretical starting defense in the exercises of this Wednesday, the day before the game for the eleventh day of Spanish LaLiga Santander.

The ‘Zorro’ would be part of the center of the field with the rojiblanco captain, Jorge ‘Koke’ Resurrección, to the detriment of the Argentine Rodrigo de Paul. It would be his second start this season, after the one he had against Getafe, where Atlético had to overcome a blue goal to win 1-2. In this campaign, Herrera has only participated in five of twelve official duels for his club.

The Mexican would play behind the trio formed by Suárez, Joao and Griezmann, who will again have the opportunity to start after in their first match together in the eleven, last Sunday against Real Sociedad, they failed to impose their quality, although two goals from the Uruguayan allowed them to save a draw (2-2).

In defense, Simeone plans to return to the scheme of three centrals, with the Uruguayan José María Giménez -who would return to the starting eleven two games later-, the Brazilian Felipe Monteiro and Mario Hermoso. Montenegrin center-back Stefan Savic chained his second training session, but he will not be in the game yet.

The full-backs cast more doubts: the Englishman Kieran Trippier on the right and the Belgian Yannick Carrasco on the left were the ones who rehearsed on Tuesday and have more probabilities, although this Wednesday they played with the theoretical starting defense the Croatian Sime Vrsaljko – who does not arrive not half an hour of play between his three interventions this season – and the Brazilian Renan Lodi.

The French Thomas Lemar and Geoffrey Kondogbia, and the Spaniard Marcos Llorente, are out for this meeting, due to different muscle injuries.

With these doubts, the rojiblanco team faces an uncomfortable visit, against a Levante that last year they failed to win in the two games they played in just three days, due to postponements. In the Ciudad de Valencia they drew 1-1 and in the Wanda Metropolitano they fell 0-2, although the team now led by Javier Pereira has not yet won an official duel, and is penultimate in the standings with five defeats and as many draws.
