TOGermany offered an ode to football showing that it is aspiring to everything … although it may even be left out at the first exchange rate. It’s what football has and these treacherous short tournaments.

Any fan who watched the game could enjoy a full-blown show. Also from Portugal in the first part. The entire repertoire that can be seen on a pitch appeared at the Allianz Arena. The German pressure, the Portuguese counterattack, the virtuosity and scoring ability of Cristiano, the misfortune with the name of own goals … In short, a delight to behold.

Germany started at full speed, without a doubt the zero points in their locker after losing to France turned the duel into an all or nothing for Lw’s. After a quarter of an hour the German siege had had chances, a goal from Gosens canceled by Gnabry’s offside, a couple of good saves from Rui Patricio … and a 1-0 on the scoreboard in favor of Portugal. Incredible, but true.

A crner thrown by Kroos, Cristiano cleared his head and a stampede of Portuguese players was mounted, led by Bernardo Silva. In three touches, Cristiano himself marked the pass of Diogo Jota’s death at his pleasure. What a backlash. From book.

For a little while, everything has to be said, Germany got a bit of a ball in the game. He dominated, he created the chances but the score was adverse to him. In any case, Lw’s were not going to give up, far from it. We are talking about Germany, no less.

In four minutes, from 35 to 39, Portugal scored two own goals and the game turned another 180 degree turn. Germany continued to dominate but now had the score in favor. Even Gosens and Gnabry were able to extend the lead before the break.

The beginning of the second part made foresee a change in the scenery. Germany had no need to impose the same suffocating pace and pressure as the first half and Portugal could no longer live off the backlash but had to propose another type of football. However, the bullets of what lay ahead lasted six minutes. Once again Gosens, the best of the game, put it on Havertz so that he could score at will.

If with 1-2 Germany lowered the revolutions a bit, with 1-3 it was time for Kimmich, Gundogan and Kroos to take the handle out for a walk to control the inevitable Portuguese arren. Arren that it was not such, because Gosens, who else, a quarter of an hour after the restart heads the 1-4 after another great German play.

As we are talking about world class teams, no one was going to throw in the towel ahead of time. Portugal did not, of course, shorten the gap through Diogo Jota to a pass from Cristiano Ronaldo. But the mountain was already too steep to climb in the last 25 minutes.

Portugal, inferior from minute 1, was ahead on the scoreboard and dreamed of reaching the final matchday and the bone of France with a better face and with more points in the classification. Now, the current European champion has to face the duel against the world champion in a kind of qualifying supercup. Thrilling.
