Gazzetta dello Sport: Eriksen could have to leave football in Italy

According to the Gazzetta delo Sport, Christian eriksen has already been operated on the heart after having a defibrillator implanted that will allow you to avoid alterations in your heart rhythm. However, according to the aforementioned media, the footballer’s career, in the best case scenario, would resume in many months. At worst, it would come to an end. At least in Italy.

Eriksen underwent surgery yesterday, an intervention considered routine in the medical field but which could change the midfielder’s sporting life forever. In any case, today, except for setbacks, he will leave the Copenhagen hospital where he has been admitted since last Saturday and will go home.

Everything points to myocarditis causing him to collapse on the pitch in the game against Finland. La Gazzetta dello Sport says that in the event that the defibrillator installation is permanent, football is over for Eriksen. Although in Holland, for example, it is possible to play with a subcutaneous defibrillator (Daley Blind), in Italy, by health advice, it would not be possible. It is not a state law, but a precise indication given by the health system through sports medicine centers. And they are based on the fact that an elbow or a collision with another player could cause the defibrillator to rupture.

In the Gazzetta another hypothesis is raised. The midfielder will undergo further tests in 4-5 weeks, which will determine if the risk of arrhythmia is correctable. If so, if the problem turns out to be momentary, the defibrillator will be removed. At that point, however, a long process would open up to obtain a suitability (not easy). In any case, the approval of a medical commission would be necessary.
