The current sports director of the Royal Antwerp Football Club, Marc Overmars, was hospitalized in Antwerp after suffering a minor stroke. The Dutch legend worked on the ajax until February of last year until it was made public that he had sent “a series of inappropriate messages” to some club employees. A month later he found a job in Belgium and was officially introduced: he signed a four-year contract to replace Luciano D’Onofrio. On his arrival in Belgium, Marc explained that he was determined to put his mistakes in the past. “I want to turn the Ajax page and start a new chapter here”, he declared to the media present at his presentation. And he added about it: “My departure was unfortunate. I have to get over that and move on, and that’s what I’m going to do now. What happened had no influence on my negotiations with Antwerp, which were good. It won’t happen again”.

During his playing career Overmars excelled not only at Ajax; also at Arsenal and at FC Barcelona, where he spent four seasons. Throughout his career with the boots he held 14 titles. In addition, he participated in two World Cups with his team: United States 1994 and France 1998.
