El Salvador rescues a point against Jamaica in Cuscatlán

El Salvador tied the match against Jamaica (1-1) in the last gasp of the match that took place at the Cuscatlán stadium. An agonizing goal from captain Alex Roldán (89 ‘) saved an important point in the tie after the Caribbean team went ahead with a goal from Michail Antonio on 82 minutes.

In a match where El Salvador deserved more due to the number of chances on Andre Black’s frame, it was Jamaica that came out the winner of Cuscatlán. Both La Azul and the “reggae boyz” remain in the fight for fourth place in the rankings after adding six points.

El Salvador and Jamaica started the game with precautions on the field. Both the home team and the visitor pressed high to make the rival make a mistake in the background.

Neither El Salvador nor Jamaica were able to impose their conditions on the field, but it was the Cuscatleco team who had more intentions to create plays on goal. Jamaica’s defensive block was solid and did not allow El Salvador to arrive with ease.

For this reason, the Salvadoran team began to create danger through counterattacks. The first arrival was from Jairo Henríquez at minute 21, where after a foray down the left wing he made the false winger reach the area and try to send a cross towards Joaquín Rivas, but in the Caribbean back they were more attentive and cut the play.

About 26 minutes, Jairo Henríquez returned to star in a good arrival on the right sector after a great pass from Enrico Dueñas, where Henríquez was in a one on one in the area against Damion Lowe. The Salvadoran tried to make the mark with a cut, but the Caribbean did not let the ball pass.

El Salvador improved over the last 15 minutes of the first half, so it was closer to opening the scoring. At minute 30, for example, Ronald Rodríguez put the first warning Andre Black after a header over the first post, where the ball went out near the goal.

Six minutes later (36 ‘), El Salvador had the two most dangerous opportunities in the first half when two shots from Alex Larín and Bryan Landaverde slammed their shot off the crossbar.
