Bolivia prevails against El Salvador in Washington

El Salvador lost 0-1 to Bolivia in the preamble friendly match for both teams before the FIFA date in November.

Rodrigo Ramallo was the author of the only goal in the match where El Salvador and Bolivia had moments of dominance on the field of Audi Field.

Hugo Pérez’s team had to adapt during the game to a very physical game from Bolivia. El Salvador finished the first half dominating and had good football landscapes in the complementary part, where again the fact of not specifying the arrivals in the rival frame took its toll.

El Salvador started the match resisting high pressure from Bolivia. The first 25 minutes of the match at the Audi Field stadium in Washington were very hard for Hugo Pérez’s men, especially to keep zero in the goal.

La Azul was imprecise during the start of the game. Players such as Darwin Cerén and Marvin Monterroza had problems maintaining possession of the ball and were imprecise in front of the squad presented by César Faría at Audi Field.

The pressure and the best moment of the South American team made goalkeeper Kevin Carabantes be attentive under the three sticks. There were two occasions in which the goalkeeper intervened to protect the team’s zero.

But El Salvador improved with the consistency of the minutes. Hugo Pérez’s team was safer and more comfortable, especially after the first 25 minutes, so that in the final stretch of the first half he dominated the possession of the ball and generated a couple of danger options in front of the Bolivian goalkeeper Rubén Cordano.

La Azul managed to make long transitions of the ball that made Bolivia leave its area and generated spaces for the Salvadoran players to try to find the first goal. At the end of the first half, a long ball was controlled by Walter Martínez, who served as a pivot for Jairo Henríquez, who from the right fired a shot that went close to the Bolivian crossbar.

In the first 10 minutes of the second half, El Salvador gave a good feeling in attack. Especially on the left sector of the court where Jairo Henríquez and Marvin Monterroza did their thing against the Bolivian defenders in actions that ended in shots towards Rubén Cordano.

El Salvador’s first option was made by Marvin Monterroza, who from the edge of the area tried his luck with a right-footed shot that did not grab enough power and ended up at the hands of Cordano.

Seconds later, Jairo Henríquez came through the left sector to the inside of the area and then shot with a scrap in a shot that was deflected by a Bolivian defender directly to the corner kick.

In the 55th minute, Jairo Henríquez once again put attention to Rubén Cordano with a left-footed shot that was barely deflected towards a new corner kick. But El Salvador’s attempts to be the first to score were in vain.

Rodrigo Ramallo silenced the Salcadoreans at Audi Field with a header goal in the 70th minute; the La Verde player anticipated the Cuscatlecos players on the first post and after a touch of the head beat the goalkeeper Carabantes on his own post.
