Bayern Munich debuts shirt with tribute to Bavaria and the Alps

Bayern Munich launched their new third shirt for the 2020-21 season, and while it will be worn when playing away, there is no doubt that the Bundesliga giants will take a piece of home with it.

That’s because the new Bayern jersey is a love letter to Bavaria, the southeastern region of Germany that the club has proudly represented for the past 121 years.

With a white and blue scheme embellished by an all-over printed design, inspired by the dazzling mountain panorama of the Alps, the club and manufacturer Adidas claim that the jersey is intended to represent Bayern’s roots, as does “ the relentless demand to aim for the highest peaks ”of the 31-time German champion.

Likewise, the design tries to encapsulate the attitude of life of the Bavarians: characterized by pride, hard work, tradition and progress.

The loving tribute to Bavaria was especially welcomed by the Bayern striker Thomas muller, who was born and raised in the region before becoming a symbol of its most famous football club throughout his career and an object of great esteem by its fans.

“As I am a Bavarian by birth and upbringing, I love this image. I love the mountains, I love my home, ”said Müller, who has won 28 trophies with the Bayern first team, including 10 Bundesliga titles and two Champions League trophies, being the most awarded German player in football history.

“I think it’s nice that we can illustrate to the whole world with this shirt the very special attitude of life that we have.”

Müller was one of the many Bayern figures who collaborated in the launch of the new shirt. His companions Alphonso davies, Serge gnabry Y Benjamin Pavardalong with female squad players Viviane Asseyi, Linda Dallmann, Hanna Glas and Lina Magulli were more than pleased to be caught on camera in the spectacular new Bayern jersey.

This ode to Bavaria was summed up in the launch video for the jersey, which refers to the rainbow-colored armband worn at Euro 2020 by Manuel Neuer, captain of Bayern and the German team, as a sign of inclusion and tolerance and that for some reason prompted a UEFA investigation during the tournament.

Bayern will debut their brand new Alpine-inspired third jersey when they face Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup on Tuesday (with LIVE broadcast via streaming on ESPN + in the United States and in South America on ESPN2 at 2:30 pm ET).

Subsequently, the team will wear this jersey in the spotlight on Champions nights, as they try to be crowned European champions for the seventh time.
