Barcelona: Dembélé’s renewal is complicated

BARCELONA – Barcelona fears that it will be repeated with Ousmane DembélIt is the same situation that was experienced last summer with Ilaix Moriba In which the footballer wanted to continue as a Barça player but his agent pressured him to leave the Camp Nou, according to different sources, ESPN explained.

In the Barça entity they are no longer as optimistic as weeks ago when many were sliding that the French winger was going to renew his contract with Barcelona to continue for many years at the Camp Nou.

“The situation is very fair, about 50 percent. We will see the player’s personality,” club sources told ESPN.

Dembélé continues to recover from the injury that occurred during the Eurocup but is very close to reappearing.

Barcelona signed Dembélé in 2017, after Neymar decided to go to Paris Saint-Germain for 222 million euros. He is 24 years old and at Barcelona they have been trying to renew his contract for some time, which ends on June 30, 2022.

The player has expressed his desire to extend his stay but talks with his representative, Moussa Sissoko, they are not being so simple.

In this sense, sources close to the player acknowledged to ESPN that Dembélé is very comfortable at Barcelona. “He feels very good, he sees that he can have a leading role with Ronald Koeman and that the fact of recovering his favorite number, number 7, is a very great motivation for him,” they slip from their environment.

The French forward will have a free hand to negotiate with other clubs from next January 1 and from the Camp Nou some sources consulted by ESPN see parallels with the departure of Ilaix Moriba last summer.

Ilaix was also in the last year of his contract. When his agents refused to renew, Barça sent him to train with the B team and told him that “he would not play with the professionals if he did not sign a new contract.”

The young midfielder finally signed for RB Leizpig for around 20 million euros in August, and his representatives earned a fair amount of commission from the deal.

Barça sources assured that next month will be key and if an agreement cannot be reached with the player’s agent, the Frenchman could see all the remainder of the season sitting in the stands.
