Ancelotti: “The calendar is nonsense”

Carlo Ancelotti exploded after Real Madrid’s victory over Elche in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, in a match in which the Whites had to come from behind Elche’s initial goal in extra time.

“What can I say? The calendar is nonsense. It has to change, those who do it must wake up,” lamented the white coach.

Madrid pulled rotations with the ownership of Lucas Vázquez on the right side, Nacho in the center of defense, Marcelo on the left side and, among others, Jovic at the top. The changes gave oxygen to a Madrid that, however, could not score in the 90 minutes and had to play extra time against an Elche team that was very serious at the back.

The extra time was equal until, in a local against, Marcelo touched Tete Morente from behind when he was the last defender. The Brazilian was expelled due to the Whites’ protests: “Marcelo has told me that he doesn’t touch the rival. It was a very difficult decision. I think it was a clear foul, but they are complicated decisions. I have to believe my captain, although I did not see the repetition”, commented on the matter the Italian technician.

Isco, from the rebound, was the author of the tying goal. Eden Hazard, after a defensive failure by Elche, took the opportunity to come back with a goal from outside the area. Both were the recipients of Ancelotti’s compliments.

“Isco and him (Hazard) have won the match. It has a meaning…. Maybe they have to play more. I can count on them, I know that. It is the game that has made me happiest. I have an extraordinary template. His professionalism is there”, recognized the Italian.

Real Madrid, with a lot of suffering, will be in the hype this Friday to find out which team they will face in the quarterfinals.
