Aerolineas Argentinas will offer flights to Qatar for the World Cup

Special flights to Qatar will go on sale next week within the framework of the 2022 World Cup to be held between November and December, for the three initial matches of the Argentine National Team in the competition, sources from Aerolineas Argentinas told Infobae.

Although the flag carrier has not yet defined what day the tickets will go on sale, they anticipated that they will surely appear in the system between Monday and Tuesday of next week.

The flights will depart from Ezeiza International Airport, will make a technical stopover in Romewhere the planes will refuel, and then continue to Doha, in Qatar. At the moment, the departure times of the flights are not defined, since the slots they were not approved by the Qatari air navigation authorities.

Regarding the dates of the flights, Aerolineas Argentinas reported that it will make available two daily flights that will arrive in Qatar one day before each of the three group stage matches of the National Team. That is will arrive in Doha on November 21 -prior to the match against Saudi Arabia-; on November 25 -prior to the match against Mexico-; and on the 29th of that month -before the match against Poland.

As for the returns, they will be one day after each game. That is there will be a total of 6 initial flights of the company within the framework of the World Cup that could increase as long as the demand for tickets is maintained and as long as the “Scaloneta” continues to advance in the highest competition in world football.

Sources from Aerolineas Argentinas said that the ticket rates have not yet been defined, but they noted that the tickets will be cheaper for those travelers who are going to see only one game, than for those who want to go to Qatar to see the two or three games of the group stage. This will be so since the company needs to return with full planesOtherwise, it will fly to Qatar with full aircraft and return to Buenos Aires with no or very few passengers.

Each of the six flights will be operated with Airbus A330-200 aircraft with capacity for around 257 passengers each, that is, Aerolineas Argentinas will give the possibility of traveling to Qatar to see the soccer team in the World Cup to about 1,542 Argentines.

During the last World Cupwhich was held in Russia in 2018, the flag carrier had also launched special flights so that Argentines can attend the competition.

Just as it is happening now, Aerolineas Argentinas drew up special agreements to finalize the route to Moscow and facilitate the arrival of Argentines to the venue of the highest soccer competition.

On that occasion, however, the new route had been possible thanks to the extension of the code share agreement that Aeroflot still maintains, the Russian flag carrier, and Aerolineas Argentinas. Thanks to this agreement, Argentines could buy AR tickets directly to Moscow, with a stopover in Madrid; and the Russians could do the same in reverse.

Currently, this route is closed as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and due to the air blockade that Europe imposed on Russia. Although the agreement between the airlines continues to exist, until the situation changes, it will not be possible to travel from Buenos Aires to Moscow.
