The fans of the Club Deportivo Irapuato, which was champion of the 2020-2021 Premier League season, are calling for a boycott of the matches of the Mexican soccer team and the Liga BBVA MX, making the homophobic cry in their matches so that FIFA prohibit Mexico from participating in the next World Cup.

The anger of the fans is because the team, which is based in the municipality of Irapuato in Guanajuato, did not obtain authorization from the Mexican Soccer Federation (FMF) to play in Liga Expansión MX, formerly known as Ascenso MX.

In a statement issued on July 5, the institution informed which three teams would be left with a place to play: Club Durango, Club Matamoros and Club Irapuato, which were evaluated in their financial structure, economic control and legal structure.

However, none of the three approved: “Today the independent auditor informed the General Directorate of Operations of the FMF that none of the three clubs complied with the financial structure, economic control and legal structure, among others, established as minimums. to be considered as a guest in the MX Expansion League “.

The announcement fell like a bucket of cold water for Irapuato fans and since that day they have been promoting the hashtag #SinAscensoNoHayMundial on social networks, as they plan that in the Gold Cup matches of the national team and in the first match of the Liga BBVA MX the public make the cry of “Pu $%”.

Even fans from other clubs are showing solidarity with the Irapuato.

Last month, FIFA sanctioned the FMF with two official matches of the national team behind closed doors at home and a fine of 1,343,883 pesos due to the shouting that fans made in matches of the Olympic Soccer Tournament against the Dominican Republic and the United States in March. For this reason, the president of the FMF, Yon de Luisa, asked the football fans to help them by avoiding the shout.

While the fans are fighting, the problem of Club Deportivo Irapuato, whose owner is Fernando San Román Cervantes, has escalated to other levels. For example, the governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhué Rodríguez Vallejo recently declared: “It is a complicated issue, the issue is not Irapuato, it is a matter of the lawsuits that the San Román family has with the Federation, it is not even a matter of the plaza, is a subject that they bring dragging with Tampico “.

The governor complained that the money invested in the club was useless: “more than 70 million pesos were invested in the Sergio León Chávez stadium, home of the Trinca Fresera del Irapuato and that now, according to the position of the Mexican Soccer Federation, will not be able to count on football in the Expansion League. “

Irapuato was bought in 2020 by the Tecamachalco Group, which is led by Fernando San Román Cervantes and his two sons: Javier and Santiago San Román, for which they have also expressed their annoyance before the FMF.

Fernando San Román published on July 8 a letter addressed to the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in which he mentions that his team was not allowed to participate in the Liga Expansión MX because in the past he had money diversion problems with Alejandro Irarragorri , who is the Proprietary Director of the General Assembly of the Mexican Football Association Federation.
