WFT: Ron Rivera will build a stronger defense than last year

The 2021 season of Washington Football Team will be one with an emphasis on defense. This is how the equipment is managed Ron Rivera, head coach of the team, as he was a linebacker for the Chicago Bears who won the Super Bowl XX with a suffocating defense.

So Rivera is a defensive genius and knows what he’s doing on that side of the field. In the last Draft he recruited Chase young, who in the end would be the Defensive Rookie of the Year, and this year he chose the linebacker Jamin davis, from Kentucky, with his first pick.

The objective of WFT is to improve on last year’s numbers. The 2020 season ended with Washington as the second-best defense in yards allowed with 4,873 yards. What’s more, their pressure on opposing quarterbacks was so good that they racked up 47 quarterback sacks and they only allowed 21 touchdowns.

On offense, Scott Turner, Washington’s offensive coordinator, will be in charge of working wonders with Ryan Fitzpatrick. ‘Fitzmagic’ arrived in the American capital to take the controls of the ninth different offensive in his career as a professional.

Washington’s receiving corps could be one of the best Fitzpatrick has played with in recent times. The receptor Terry McLaurin will be the first option during the passing game, then the tight end will follow Logan thomas and the newly arrived wide receiver Curtis Samuel.

To release pressure on the pin, Antonio gibson it will explode on the ground. The second-year player will be looking to improve his numbers from last season.

Now, it remains to be seen whether WFT may repeat the crown of the NFC East, something that no team has achieved in the last ten years. The last team to do so was Philadelphia Eagles, from 2002 to 2004.

Player to watch

The 2020 Defensive Rookie of the Year will be the player to watch in the 2021 season. Chase Young had a brutal showing on the NFL grids with 44 tackles, 7.5 sacks, four provoked fumbles, three fumbles recovered, one of them for a defensive touchdown, and 12 QB hits.

Darrell green was an iconic player of Washington Football Team, since he was part of the organization for 20 seasons and won two of the three Vince Lombardi trophies that the team has on display. Its durability gave it the nickname ‘Ageless Wonder’, since its speed and quality did not diminish with the passage of time.

In those 20 years, he played 295 games and recorded 1,120 tackles, 54 interceptions, six of them converted into defensive touchdowns. Green has an almost impossible record to beat; recorded an interception in 19 consecutive seasons.

In addition, he was selected to the NFL’s first All-Pro team on one occasion and received seven invitations to the Pro Bowl. Both his individual and team awards allowed him to be Enthroned in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
