Washington Football Team is very close to updating its name. In July 2020 they stopped being the Washington Redskins due to pressure from investors since the name of the organization had a discriminatory connotation and they changed to a generic name.
The team announced that on February 2, 2022 they will announce the new team logo and name. They will also present the new uniforms and helmets that they will wear from next season.

To create expectation, the team published on their social networks videos of the helmets and uniforms they will use in the 2022 campaign They were introduced to former franchise players such as Doug Williams and Martin Mayhew, the team’s current general manager, and head coach Ron Rivera.
Jason Wright, Team President, ruled out two options that were liked by Washington fans over trademark issues by other teams. Those options were Wolves and RedWolves.
In mid-2021, Dan Snyder, owner of the WFT, claimed to trademark the name Washington Football Team, but the Patent Office rejected his application.
Washington History
The Washington franchise has been one of the most important in the history of the NFL. Founded in 1932 by George Preston Marshall as the Boston Braves, the team changed its name to the Boston Redskins after one season and from 1937 to 2020 were the Washington Redskins.
Before the Super Bowl era, the Washington team won five NFL championships. Subsequently, they entered five Super Bowls and won editions XVII, XXII and XXVI.
The team has had historical coaches such as Joe gibbs and George Allen and with great players from the Pro Football Hall of Fame such as Sammy Baugh, Sonny Jurgensen, Joe Theismann, Art Monk, Darrell green and Champ Bailey.
