Troy Aikman sees the Washington Commanders as the last chance for Carson Wentz

The second overall recruit of the 2016 Draft arrives in Washington to his third team in the same number of seasons, and without yet proving that he can be a “franchise quarterback in the NFL”, according to the Hall of Fame member

“To be frank, I think this is probably his last chance to prove that he can be a franchise quarterback in the NFL“explained the six-time international Pro Bowl.

The former quarterback spoke of the changes that Carson Wentz has had in a career that was projected to be successful in the NFL since he was selected with the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft for the philadelphia eagles.

“Carson He had his chances, but it didn’t end well in philadelphiathen they changed him to Indianapolis and for different situations it did not go very well either and now he landed in Washington; I think it’s his last chance,” she explained.

In five seasons with the eagles, Wentz he had just two with a winning record, 2017 and 2019. In 2020 he lived his worst campaign. He passed for just 2,660 yards, had 15 interceptions and 10 fumbles.

In 2021 he signed with the Indianapolis Colts in search of a new opportunity to transcend, but by not taking them to the playoffs he left the team heading for the Washington Commanderssomething that Aikman considered transcendental for Wentz.

“I hope you can take advantage of this opportunity with the commanders because without a doubt that this is a kind of decisive season for the career of Carson because from here it will be defined what the future will be,” he stressed.
