Tom Brady announces his retirement after 22 seasons and 7 Super Bowl titles

Tom Brady, the greatest quarterback in NFL history, announced his retirement Tuesday after winning the Super Bowl seven times and setting numerous passing records in an unprecedented 22-season career.

“I find this hard to write, but here goes: I will not sign another competitive commitment,” Brady wrote in an Instagram post. “I have treasured my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.”

Brady had long expressed a desire to spend more time with his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, and three children, even though he continued to play at a lofty level.

At 44, Brady is retiring after leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Super Bowl title last season and the NFC South title this season.

Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is retiring after 22 seasons and seven Super Bowl wins that make him the all-time winner.

Tom Brady, played 10 times for the league championship, had seven wins and three losses. Among his records, he holds the most times selected to the Pro Bowl with 15, five times Super Bowl Most Valuable Player and three times of the season.

The quarterback was selected in 2000 in the fifth round in 199th place by the Patriots and two years later he lifted his first Vince Lombardi trophy.

Brady, 44, broke the comparison of achievements with the rest of the NFL passers to such a degree that he had to begin to be measured with the most powerful franchises in the league, which he also surpassed.

The owner of jersey number 12 won seven Super Bowls, one more than the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers who have six and participated in 10 games for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Born in San Mateo, California, his childhood idol was San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joe Montana, the second with the most Super Bowls won with four along with Terry Bradshaw of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

His last game was a 30-27 loss to Tampa Bay in the NFC divisional round, and even though he had one year left on his contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he decided to say goodbye.

“The biggest difference is that now that I’m older, I have children, I worry about them. My wife, my greatest support, it hurts her to see me being beaten and she and my children need me,” he declared last week in a message in which he left see the decision now confirmed.

Tom Brady finished the 2021 season as the number one passer in yards with 5,316 and with the most touchdowns, 43. He also closed his participation in the playoffs with 86 touchdown passes in his career, another league record.
