The Dallas Cowboys’ dilemma: Cooper Rush or Dak Prescott?

When the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended, The outlook couldn’t be more bleak for the Dallas Cowboys. Dak Prescott walked out with a broken right thumb, and also AT&T Stadium witnessed a painful defeat against Tom Brady and company.

No one ever imagined that a new hero was about to emerge. Cooper Rushwho had only played one game with the Dallas Cowboys (win against the Minnesota Vikings in 2021), took control of the ‘Lone Star’ team to face Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, Washington Commanders and Los Angeles Rams.

All ended in wins for Mike McCarthy, a situation that keeps Cooper Rush undefeated in his first five starts in the NFL, and that has caused the dilemma to jump. Should he stay on as the starter when Dak Prescott is ready?

Who should start?

Dallas owes much of its great start to the season to an imposing defense led by Demarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons.since they have not allowed more than 19 points in the same number of games played, however, they have not scored more than 25 points in the same period.

The Cowboys are the 27th offense in the league with Cooper Rushwhile last year, Dallas was ranked number two in the league in that same department, leading in passing yards, fourth in passing rating and second in completion percentage.

Nevertheless, what Cooper Rush has done very well, unlike Dak, is to take care of the ball. Prescott had 10 interceptions and six turnovers during the 2021 season, while the 28-year-old has yet to make an error in the games he has played.

Jerry Jones is aware of what Rush has done, but he also knows what Dak can give him. “It’s going to get better this week,” Jones said. “I have no idea if he will play against Philadelphia or not, but he will improve,” assured the owner who does not enter into controversies and knows that Prescott will return to his position when he is healthy enough.
