Seattle Seahawks deny plans to move Russell Wilson via trade

Coach Pete Carroll said he wasn’t worried about the speculation surrounding his quarterback, given that “last year, he was like double.”

The head coach of the Seattle SeahawksPete Carrollsaid Wednesday that the team “has no intention” of trading the star quarterback Russell Wilson in the off-season.

But, in his first comments to the media since the end of the team’s disappointing 7-10 season, Seahawks, Carroll he paused again before completely ruling out the possibility.

“This time of year, there are conversations about everyone,” he replied. Carroll when asked in the NFL scouting combine regarding exchange offers or questions about the availability of Wilson. “We talk about everybody. And it’s common for us to have conversations with teams about all the players — particularly big-name players — and that hasn’t changed. It’s been the same every year since I’ve been here. So, It’s the same as always.

“We have no intention of making any moves here, but the talks, [el gerente general John Schneider] you should take those. She has always done it. But, nothing specific about that.”

Talked later with reporters, already outside the podium, Carroll said that the standard answer of Schneider to the teams that have asked about Wilson, is that the Seahawks they’re not offering their quarterback, according to The News Tribune.

During his session on the podium, which lasted about 20 minutes, Carroll said he was not surprised by the speculation regarding the future of Wilson“because last year, it was like twice as many.”

Wilson publicly vented his frustrations with the organization last February, leading to several weeks of tension between the two sides and talks of swaps with the Chicago Bears.

“It’s the world of quarterbacks now,” he said. Carroll this Wednesday. “You talk about all of them. You try your best to figure it out. It’s what you need to do. So, there’s a lot of people shooting, a lot of lines in the water now, trying to guess and see what happens.”

At the end of the season, the comments of Carroll to FOX 13 on Seattle strongly suggested that the team would listen to trade offers for Wilson.

Wilson, 33, had the most challenging season of his 10-year career in 2021. He missed three games with a finger injury on his throwing hand, and struggled with his accuracy upon his return from surgery. By the time he regained his usual form towards the end of the campaign, the Seahawks they were far from contending for a playoff spot.

Wilsonwho has a no-exchange clause in his contract, has reiterated that he hopes to stay in Seattle. He has two years and $51 million remaining on a four-year, $140 million extension signed in 2019.

Carroll gave the wrong answer when answering about the linebacker Bobby Wagnerwho has been another of the cornerstones of the franchise since he and Wilson They were recruited together in 2012.

Wagneran eight-time selected Pro Bowlis scheduled to fetch $20.35 million in the final year of his three-year, $54 million extension.

“We hope to play with Bobby“, he expressed Carroll. “We love to play with Bobby. He has been a great player, he had another great season. This time of year, there are a lot of guys in a situation where we have to figure out how they fit together. Bobby he’s been a constant part of it and we’d love to play with him, so we’ll work towards that. If we can do it, we will.”

Carroll said that the Seahawks they also want to bring back free safety Quandre Diggs, who is an unrestricted free agent. The Seahawks have the franchise tag at their disposal, but have used it just twice in 12 seasons under Carroll and Schneider.

The deadline to use the franchise player designation is March 8.

diggs he had five interceptions before suffering a broken fibula and dislocated ankle late in the regular season. The injury prevented him from playing in the Pro Bowlafter being invited for the second consecutive year.

Carroll said he had “no doubt” that diggs he would be back on the field for training camp.

“It’s the only thing he’s thinking about,” he said. Carroll. “She’ll be back before then, I’d think… We really want him back.”
