Report: NCAA Player Agents Plan to Boycott NFL Scouting Combine; NFLPA supports them

The 2021 NFL season ended with the Los Angeles Rams championship and there is less than two weeks to go until the Socuting Combine begins for the next Draft. The league sent out guidelines for holding the event, and college prospects disagree.

According to the report by Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, of NFL Network, agents representing more than 150 college players are organizing a boycott of the league’s planned ‘bubble’ for scouting combine.

The league established that the scouting combine will be held from March 1-7 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, under strict protocol surveillance to prevent covid spread in a bubble format. All participants must be fully vaccinated.

Likewise, in the statement issued by the league it is explained that the prospects will only be able to bring a medical specialist that they must present beforehand. In addition, players will be ejected from the combine if they break any of the rules.

NFLPA Support

The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) issued a statement stating that it will support players who decide not to go to the scouting combine.

We have spoken with multiple agents to reinforce our long-standing opposition to the NFL Scouting Combine and we agree with and support the decision of those who do not want to attend.. The combination of the ‘bubble’ and the fact that they still have an antiquated system where each team has an examining doctor. Our union has always prioritized players taking control of their careers from the start and we are grateful that agents seek to support this goal.”, the NFLPA statement says.
