The long-awaited date to meet the new NFL champion is getting closer. The Lombardi Trophy is already waiting for the Chiefs, Bengals, Rams or 49ers to take it as a reward for winning the Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

We recommend: NFL: Shanahan and McVay, a rivalry of old acquaintances

Of the four teams still in contention, only San Francisco has a chance to tie the franchises with the most wins on Super Sunday. Which we present to you here.

GREEN BAY – 4 TITLES

The Packers are always contenders to be NFL champions, and although once again they failed to transcend with Aaron Rodgers at the helm, they still have the honor of being the first team in history to win the Super Bowl. Not only that, they were also the first two-time champions.

The last time they lifted the trophy was in 2011, where they defeated Ben Roethlisberger’s Pittsburgh Steelers, and incidentally they left him without his third ring.

RIVAL YEAR RESULT

1967 CHIEFS 35-10

1968 RAIDERS 33-14

1997 PATRIOTS 35-21

NEW YORK GIANTS – 4 TITLES

The Giants are well known for two things. Being the successful franchise in the state of New York, and for ‘stealing’ two Super Bowls from Tom Brady’s Patriots.

Although recently their level leaves much to be desired, they can continue to boast for eternity of being one of the winningest teams in the NFL.

SAN FRANCISCO – 5 TITLES

While recent history has not rewarded the efforts of the 49ers, there is no doubt that they were, are and will be a flagship team in the NFL. And although his constant appearances in the Playoffs get his faithful fans excited, the only reality is that they have not raised the Lombardi since distant 1995.

DALLAS – 5 TITLES

Although the Cowboys share similarities with the 49ers in terms of fame and number of trophies, the balance is tilted against the franchise from the southern United States due to the inefficiency it has left in the last two decades.

America’s team hasn’t made it to the NFL big game since 1996.

PITTSBURGH – 6 TITLES

The Steelers are the team that has that ‘tail’ or ‘mystique’ of a major franchise. It doesn’t matter if their defense, offense or quarterback fail to get results, the constant feeling that at some point they can pick up and make the playoffs is always there.

The 2021 season was the example and although Ben Roethlisberger will no longer be there, he left the legacy of those two Super Bowls that he conquered and, for a moment, managed to position Pittsburgh as the most successful.

NEW ENGLAND – 6 TITLES

The history of the Patriots cannot be told without Tom Brady. ‘The GOAT’ took over after Drew Bledsoe was injured in 2001. From there, he and Bill Belichick as head coach created the most feared and powerful team in the NFL.

In 17 years, New England has gone from an irrelevant franchise to the remote top dog in the league. Now without Brady, the arrival of a new Super Bowl could have to wait a long time.
