Johnson has been present at team practices but has sat out amid a deadlock in negotiations on a contract extension for the wide receiver.

Since arriving with the Steelers as the 66th pick in the third round of the 2019 DraftDiontae Johnson’s numbers have only been going up from his rookie season.
In the 2021 academic year, he had his best year as a professional on the gridirons, with 105 receptions, the fifth best figure among all receivers in the league, 1,161 receiving yards, which was the 10th best mark, as well as 8 receiving touchdowns.
