In recent statements, McDanieles, who will have his second chance as a franchise head coach, assured that Derek Carrwill be his starting quarterback in week one of the competition, and he hopes he will get his contract extension soon, so he can build around him.

The quality of Derek Carr is undeniable, even more so after the 2021 season was the best of his career, reaching his maximum in passing yards, with 4,804, the fifth best mark in the league in the previous year.
With McDaniels being an offensive specialist, next season could well be Carr’s first overcoming the 5 thousand passing yardsmore with a wide receiver of the quality of Davante Adams.
