After what happened in week 8 of the 2021 NFL Season, we have new NFL Power Rankings, now for week 9.
1. Los Angeles Rams
Record: 7-1
Previous position: 3 (+2)
The Rams know they are good, but they can still improve. We’ll see if the addition of Von Miller helps, but for now the expectations are even higher for this team.
2. Green Bay Packers
Record: 7-1
Previous position: 7 (+5)
After a few weeks of belittling results in Green Bay, comes a narrative-changing triumph of authority on this team. It looks like the Aaron & Aaron duo can keep the Packers at the top of the NFC and our NFL Power Rankings.
3. Buffalo Bills
Record: 5-2
Previous position: 4 (+1)
The Bills are already making a habit of beating the Dolphins clearly. Now they have the opportunity to continue their winning streak against another Florida team, and that will surely allow them to continue improving their position within the AFC.
4. Dallas Cowboys
Record: 6-1
Previous position: 5 (+1)
The Cowboys did the right thing by benching Dak Prescott to avoid risking a more severe injury, and on top of it all they won the game. Things are going well and good in the NFL Power Rankings for Dallas in 2021.
5. Arizona Cardinals
Record: 7-1
Previous position: 1 (-4)
The loss to the Packers leaves the Cards with some issues to resolve, including Kyler Murray’s injury and losing JJ Watt for the entire season. They are still a serious contender in the NFC, but first place in our NFL Power Rankings was no longer an option.
6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Record: 6-2
Previous position: 2 (-4)
The Bucs lost to the Saints and they seem to be at a similar point to last year: with some doubts but a lot of potential. And we all know how last year ended, so don’t discount them.
7. Baltimore Ravens
Record: 5-2
Previous position: 9 (+2)
The good news for the Ravens this bye week? Both the Bengals and Browns lost. The division is very close, but they seem to be the lightweight favorites at the moment.
8. Tennessee Titans
Record: 6-2
Previous position: 6 (-2)
The win over the Colts puts them in position to win AFC South easily, but Derrick Henry’s injury derails all the momentum this team brought. They just aren’t the same without their star player.

9. Las Vegas Raiders
Record: 5-2
Previous position: 11 (+2)
Right now their record is very good and they seem poised to fight for a postseason berth. Come on, the ups and downs of the Chargers make us think that maybe the Raiders will come out as leaders of the AFC West.
10. Cincinnati Bengals
Record: 5-3
Previous position: 8 (-2)
Just when we were all ready to get on this train, the Bengals lose surprisingly to the Jets and that puts them back a bit in our Power Rankings. Of course, it is not yet time to discard them.
11. New Orleans Saints
Record: 5-2
Previous position: 12 (+1)
To be honest, nothing expected the Saints to be in these conditions this year. The only problem they have is that they ran out of Jameis Winston, so that must have a negative impact on their next matches.
12. Los Angeles Chargers
Record: 4-3
Previous position: 10 (-2)
For at least twenty years the Chargers have been the team of “high talent, low results” and for now things seem to be following the same line.
13. Pittsburgh Steelers

Last week he said it was not yet time to write off Pittsburgh, and his win over the Browns confirms it. They’re going slow, but it’s better than starting 11-0 and crashing outrageously.
14. New England Patriots

Little by little, the Patriots are moving into a position to think about a wild-card spot, and their win over the Chargers also validates them as a team that can do something more interesting than pummel the Jets.
15. Cleveland Browns

17. Minnesota Vikings

This team has a small problem: they are not so bad as to make it evident that they need changes, but they are not so good as to go far in the season either. In other words, they are at the sweet spot that we know as “mediocrity.”
18. Carolina Panthers
Record: 4-4
Previous position: 20 (+2)
Christian McCaffrey’s injury has been a huge problem for the Panthers this year, and it looks like Sam Darnold is not going to make it to the end of the 2021 NFL Season in full. The playoffs are looking further and further away for this team.
19. Seattle Seahawks
Record: 3-5
Previous position: 22 (+3)
The victory against the Jaguars gives Seattle some oxygen, which will now have a bye week and can wait more patiently for the return of Russell Wilson. Of course, they need me to return as soon as possible if they do not want the season to escape them.
20. San Francisco 49ers
Record: 3-4
Previous position: 21 (+1)
The 49ers season is still alive, but it’s easy to think that their only real aspirations are as a wild card team. That, needless to say, is far from the expectations for this team.
21. Philadelphia Eagles

The Broncos had a pretty strange week: They did everything they could to lose their game and for whatever reason they ended up winning. I don’t think it will happen to them again very soon, so they should improve significantly in the next few days.
24. Atlanta Falcons

Just as the Falcons were picking up their pace, an unfavorable loss to the Panthers is coming and this team is back in losing-record limbo, a place they’ve known pretty well for a couple of years.

25. Chicago Bears

Matt Nagy wasn’t supposed to win games because he didn’t have a QB, and now that he does, he doesn’t win either. To further complicate his case, Justin Fields’ best match came with Nagy at home, and that says a lot.
26. New York Jets
Record: 2-5
Previous position: 30 (+4)
No, Mike White is not creating a quarterback controversy on the Jets. What is real is that this team gives good sparks, so much so that they already beat the Titans and Bengals.
27. New York Giants
