It’s been another year of disappointment, embarrassment and plenty of sighing and rolling eyes from New York Giants fans. Despite several moves made last offseason to turn around what has been a horrible era in football, the Giants still put together a miserable 2021 season.

The 2021 New York Giants Season

The team has lost at least ten games and hasn’t qualified for the playoffs in five straight years now, and we can bet some people in the front office or coaching staff will be out of a job soon, like they already did with HC Joe Judge and GM Dave Gettleman.

Not only has it been a terrible season, the whole year 2021 was a real nightmare. Yes, there were some moments that increased the confidence of the fans, but those final breaths of the organization in the season have been some of the worst the league has seen. We don’t want to give the Giants a bad rating because they made some moves that benefit the franchise going forward.

Fans were optimistic heading into this season: Daniel Jones was expected to improve, the young quarterback had a talented roster of offensive weapons, the offensive line had continuity from the previous year, and the defense was coming off a strong 2020 campaign.

However, after 17 games, this team has consolidated its fifth consecutive losing season with double-digit losses. Daniel Jones failed the final exam to be the answer at quarterback, the offensive line is dealing with multiple injuries and doesn’t have a strong option at right tackle; offensive weapons can’t stay healthy and defensive performances are shaky, to say the least.

The best moment of the Giants’ 2021 season

He doesn’t look so bright now because the WRKenny Golladay hasn’t stayed healthy or built a productive season by any means, but at the time of the signing of his 4-year, $72 million contract, Giants fans were optimistic. about the future.

The team had finally acquired a legitimate WR1; Daniel Jones had a new weapon to use. At the time, before the injuries and disappointing 2021 campaign, Giants fans really felt some excitement.

There was a new star in town, and one who could help this offense expand the field. With a new (and hopeful) offensive coordinator next year, the expectation is that Golladay will have a breakout season in 2022 and could be a factor every season going forward.

The worst moment of his 2021 season

It started in the preseason when almost all the playmakers of the Giants were injured. That was a harbinger of what was to come. QB Daniel Jones, RB Saquon Barkley and wide receivers Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepard, Kadarius Toney and Darius Slayton have missed at least three games this season.

Injuries, coupled with an offensive line that played worse than ever, produced another miserable season. Only the Jaguars averaged fewer points. We should have known from Week 2, when Dexter Lawrence was grounded for false start on the game-winning field goal at Washington, which this season was going to be a disaster.

Special mention to another moment that should have been brilliant, but ended badly. After being unable to hold a ceremony in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Giants finally retired Eli Manning’s No. 10 jersey at halftime of the 2021 Week 3 matchup. The stadium was packed; all the fans got together; It was a day to honor a legend, but of course, in Giants fashion, the Big Blue spoiled the event by suffering a terrible loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

The Giants’ 2021 season MVP

L.T. Andrew Thomas

Everyone was concerned about the entry of left tackle Andrew Thomas this season. He had a disappointing rookie campaign in 2020 and seemed to struggle a lot during the preseason, but somehow Thomas managed to turn it all around.

The second-year player has been the team’s best offensive lineman this year, and he hasn’t contributed to any of the Giants’ struggles on that side of the ball. For all the bad moves Dave Gettleman made as GM, it looks like he was able to find the left tackle of the team’s future. If Thomas continues to impress, let’s hope he stays in East Rutherford for a long time.

What is expected in the 2022 season?

They must find the right person to fix this big mess. Then find out if the new General Manager can find the right person to run this team on the field.

Daniel Jones has also fallen victim to a lack of talent around him, but the concerns about what is now a substantial injury history are real. New York has some franchise-altering decisions to make this offseason.
