Mexican Under-23 team arrived in Tokyo amid strict sanitary measures

The Mexican National Team arrived safely at the Tokyo airport and went to the Olympic Village to carry out PCR tests

The Mexican Under-23 National Team arrived in Tokyo, Japan this Thursday amid strict health measures, after the government of that country decreed a state of emergency due to a re-outbreak of coronavirus in the capital.

After a long journey, which began with a flight from Mexico City at 2:20 am, some members of the Tri shared images on their social networks, such as goalkeepers Guillermo Ochoa, Luis Ángel Malagón, as well as midfielders Carlos Rodríguez and Uriel Antuna.

Those selected arrived at the Narita International Airport and photographs were taken, such as the one of Malagón with Roberto Alvarado and another in which Ochoa shared the picture with eleven other players.

‘Charly’ Rodríguez took the opportunity to upload stories on his Instagram with videos of the airport walls, which are upholstered with motifs from the legendary Mario Bros. video game saga, including its characters Yoshi, Toad, Peach, Luigi and Mario.

Unlike the International Airport of Mexico City, in which the players and the coaching staff were approached by reporters, cameramen, photographers, fans and onlookers, in the terminal area of the Asian country no one approached the Mexican team, guarded by security personnel and members of the Japanese police.

The Mexican team moved to the Olympic Village, where it will have to undergo a PCR testing process to ensure that no player has come up with Covid-19.

In the absence of confirmation of the last preparation match against New Zealand, the team led by Jaime Lozano will face in Group A France, on July 22, host Japan, on July 25, and South Africa, on 28, with the goal from being one of the first two in the sector to advance to the Quarterfinals of the Olympic men’s soccer tournament.

Mexico won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in London 2012 and the ‘Jimmy’ team has traveled to Tokyo with that same goal in mind.
