PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Steelers have named Omar Khan as their next general manager, the team announced Wednesday.

He signed a four-year contract, the team said. The Steelers will formally introduce him at a news conference Friday at 10 am ET.

Khan was considered one of the favorites during the exhaustive search, which also included interviews with Brandon Hunt, the Steelers’ director of pro scouting. Outgoing general manager Kevin Colbert announced he would step down after the 2021 season, but left open the possibility of staying on as an adviser after more than two decades with the Steelers.

“I am extremely excited about this opportunity to be the General Manager of the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Khan said in a statement. “I would like to thank Art Rooney II, Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert for their support throughout this process. I am ready for this challenge and grateful to continue the success we have had in the field during my first 21 years. I look forward to I look forward to rounding out our football operations staff and working tirelessly to build another championship football team for the Steelers Nation and our community.”
