Jimmy Garoppolo on last game: We’ll see what will happen in the next few weeks

The San Francisco 49ers loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Champonship Game could be quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s last game with the gambusinos.

Garoppolo completed 16 of 30 throws for 232 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the NFC final. The final play on San Francisco’s offense was an interception thrown by the quarterback at the hands of Travin Howard after being pressured by Aaron Donald.

One of the biggest topics to discuss during the offseason will be the quarterback contract situation. according to Spotrac, if the Niners keep Garoppolo for the 2022 season it will mean a $26.9 million salary cap hit. After that year, the quarterback will become an unrestricted free agent.

“I think in the next few days I will let things calm down a bit. Emotions are strong after a match, win or lose. It’s one of those situations where you’re thankful they happened and just take the good stuff. We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks, but I love this team and being with them all year long is amazing.”, declared Garoppolo in the post-game conference.

What’s more, San Francisco drafted quarterback Trey Lance with the third overall pick in the last Draft. hinting that he would be the quarterback of the future and not Garoppolo.

During the 2021 campaign, Jimmy Garoppolo was limited by injuries to his calf, shoulder and right thumb which forced him to miss two games. Despite this, the quarterback is proud of his teammates.

“I love this team, I’ve told you before. Everything we’ve been through, the offseason, training camp. The year was a roller coaster, it really was. Good teams, we are a resilient team and that is what good teams dothey fight and they overcome everything,” Garoppolo said.

In 15 games as a starter during the regular season, ‘Jimmy G’ accumulated 3,810 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions after completing 301 of 441 attempted throws.
