James supported Zúñiga when he said: “I do not share with the idols of one who today are behind a microphone: they cannot be so disloyal. They are unfair for 3 pesos. Many played with us and many were on this side, “said the former side of the National Team.

In this regard, James said: “They thought they were going to be at the top always, but we, with all due respect, we surpassed them, we already passed them.” And he added: “I don’t see much press, but I just watch and write down and score, because life takes many turns.”

Zúñiga gave an additional sentence on the subject: “Those same are the ones who, when the National Team was concentrated in Barranquilla, were the first to go and ask us for shirts.”

Rincon’s Response

Freddy Rincon, who has fiercely criticized James, answered on the Win Sports + screen, as a panelist for the program ‘La Polémica’.

“He who has a mouth speaks what he wants. The truth is, I tried Zúñiga once, which was in the game against Barcelona. It was good. I do not know. I can’t take that for myself because I have little time here. What I have spoken has been clear. What I say on television I repeat personally and I do not hide it. I don’t take it for myself personally, ”said Freddy.

‘The same nonsense’

For his part, Faustino ‘Tino’ Asprilla also answered James from his ESPN analyst chair.

“I don’t know if James was talking about everyone. I would like James to come out and say who they are. It seems very strange to me that he catches her with everyone, when he has a married fight with Freddy Rincón. Point. So be brave and say: ‘Freddy, you are the one who speaks.’ (We) When have we spoken badly of that boy? ”.

“Like the others, they hired me to say what I think and speak from my experience, so I will continue to do so, And if James or someone else doesn’t like it, then bad.”

And he added: “I, like the others, hired me to say what I think and speak from my experience, so I will continue to do so. And if James or someone else doesn’t like it, then bad ”.

El Tino concluded: “It happened to me in the 1994 World Cup qualifiers. Remember that I fight because I don’t play, I was offended, I also did the stupid things that James did and I came out brave, I fought. In Barranquilla I told Maturana and ‘Bolillo’: ‘I don’t come here to see anyone play and I’m leaving the National Team’ and they answered ‘Ah, well, go away,’ ”he said.

‘Football codes’

Óscar Córdoba, World Cup goalkeeper in 1994 and 1998, met those comments and, as a commentator for ESPN in Colombia, spoke about the attitude of the National Team’s historical figures, their role in the media and what the codes of football are.

“I put on a tie, which was one of the phrases it started with. It wasn’t that the day after I finished playing I dedicated myself to commenting in the media; I was a panelist in Argentina, where they gave me the opportunity, there a space was opened for the players to communicate our experiences ”, Córdoba commented.

The exporter, who won the Copa América in 2001, continued: “What are the codes? If the codes are talking about football, and not being able to comment on the positioning of a player, or the decision of a coach, then I am breaking the codes. If that is what bothers you, yes I am breaking them. “

Background

It is not the first time that there are frictions between the historical of the 90 and James. Daniel Habif, A Mexican entrepreneur and motivator, he invited James, in August of last year, to one of his programs in which he tries to show his followers a more human side of his interviewees, while still asking them about their profession.

There were many topics that were addressed in that interview. There James made clear his frustration at not having had continuity at Real Madrid, he began to look at the possibilities of in which country he would continue his career and gave the names of the players he admired: “Maradona, Ronaldo el gordo and Pelé”.

In the middle of that talk, which had a great dose of laughter, Habif asks James a casual question without knowing what his response would generate. “Who has been the best player in the history of Colombia?” Asked the Mexican. “Me,” James said. That’s where all the controversy began.

Seconds later, James wanted to justify his answer: “I’m someone who trusts me a lot and the results say that. You have to take into account other players who are great. Pibe, Faustino, Falcao.”

Habif mentioned Rincón to him and James gave an opinion on him: “Rincón is a little lower. Now he throws other things towards me not so good,” he recalled.

Rincón’s response appeared shortly after: “James seems like a good player to me, but he lacks more sacrifice, a series of things to call him crac. People have their concepts, mine is that. I have nothing to talk with. him, I don’t know him, I’m not friends with him. He has his concept, he was asked a question when he called an influencer, who seems to me to be half without feet and head, but everyone does what they want with their life, a He asks who was the best Colombian player in history, he said that he, up to that point, I respect each one’s ego and I have nothing to say; if he thinks he is the best footballer of all time, he is respected ” , he pointed.

Carlos ‘Pibe’ Valderrama also intervened in the fight and defended Rincón. “He disrespected Freddy Rincón, the great one. Lack of respect, lack of respect! One has to have, no fuck, respect for the great players, the great people and history. Freddy Rincón is great, he is’ crack ‘, he disrespected him, “he said then on Blu Radio.
