Is Dak Prescott the right quarterback to take the Cowboys to the Super Bowl?

The Dallas Cowboys were eliminated in the NFL Wild Card Round by the San Francisco 49ers, adding yet another season in which they are unable to become a contender.

Since 1995 the Cowboys haven’t known what it’s like to even play for the NFC Championship, failing in their 11 playoff appearances to get past the Divisional Round of the playoffs. The organization believes that Dak Prescott is the one who can end this streak and therefore they signed him a huge multi-year contract, but are they right?

Prescott has posted numbers and an impact very similar to the one that Tony Romo had with the team between 2006 and 2014, leading the organization to the NFC East championship and losing the opportunity to advance to the conference finals in all of them.

Prescott’s regular-season numbers fully justify his four-year, $160 million deal as one of the most consistent passers in the league. He comes from recording a total of 4,449 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 16 games in the 2021-22 season.
