Frank Reich: We needed Matt Ryan and he needed us

The indianapolis Colts handed over their third-round pick in the upcoming Draft, 82nd overall, to the Atlanta falcons to get quarterback Matt Ryan.

the head coach Frank Reich stated that the move was necessary for both the player and the AFC South franchise.as both sides have big aspirations in the NFL.

“I think everyone can see that it’s a great situation. People agree that we got a player who is still at a high level and that we have a roster set up to make noise. we needed each other”, Reich sentenced for Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

In his fourteenth season as a professional, Ryan had 3,968 yards, 20 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions. after completing 67 percent of his shots.

For Reich, the 36-year-old quarterback’s physical qualities, such as ball speed and shooting movements, have not diminished over time. He also believes Ryan’s transition to the Colts’ offense will be smooth.

“I want to work in the offseason with Matt and our coaches. AND80 percent of our offense is something he’s done in the past, but there will be some changes. We will use concepts that he had success with in Atlanta and we will hear what he thinks about them, ”said the head coach.

Epic fail

The Colts missed the playoffs in the 2021 season by losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the final week of the regular season. The head coach considers that Ryan’s arrival will help Indianapolis recover from that epic failure.

“When you end the season the way we ended it, that haunts forever. I have seen this many times, not only in my career, but in the history of any sport. When you have an epic breakdown, you take it and turn it into a spark to improve. We believe that will happen in Indianapolis” stated the head coach.
