Florida NFL Teams Review: Week 2

2-0, 1-1 and 0-2, that’s the Florida teams after a couple of games in the 2021 NFL Season. One team is a candidate for the Super Bowl, another is a candidate for the # 1 overall pick (again), and the other team scores a lime for a sand.

tampa bay buccaneers: beat atlanta falcons 48-25

The champions’ offense looks unstoppable so far. Tom Brady threw 5 touchdowns with no interceptions and leads the league with 9, second best all-time record and the best of his career after two games. Counting the playoffs Brady has thrown 15 TD passes in his last 4 games.

In addition, he had the luxury of completing passes for 10 different receivers, including a pair of touchdowns for his best friend, Rob Gronkowski, who has scored 5 times in his last 3 games.

But the best news for the Bucs is that the defense that was conspicuous by its absence against Dallas in Week 1 appeared. 3 times they intercepted Matt Ryan, 2 of them returned for Touchdown when the game was already defined, both by Mike Edwards. Tampa Bay has 10 straight wins, but its next game against the Rams looks to be one of the toughest of the season.

Miami Dolphins: lost to Buffalo Bills 35-0

Little and nothing to note about the Dolphins in their home debut. Josh Allen has them as sons, Singletary and Moss ran at pleasure and scored 3 times in total, the Bills defense recorded 6 quarterback sacks, 2 recovered fumbles and 1 interception, worst of all is the health of his starting quarterback.

Tua will not be the new Dan Marino, but without a doubt Brian Flores would rather have him. Tagovailoa got hurt before 5 minutes of the game after a great blow to the ribs in a 4th opportunity. He had only completed one pass all day, and his place was taken by former Patriot and Colt Jacoby Brissett. The offense didn’t work out at all with Brisett, being shut out for the first time in two years when they lost 43-0 to the Patriots and Brian Flores was just managing his second game.

Tua’s state of health is in doubt prior to his very interesting duel against the undefeated Raiders in week 3.

Jacksonville jaguars: lost to Denver Broncos 23-13

After losing to Houston in the first week, the Jags were now a little more competitive against a better team, but it is clear that no game will be easy for them this season. Trevor Lawrence has thrown 5 interceptions in 2 weeks (2 this week, one of them against rookie Patrick Surtain), he threw for just 189 yards, and Denver dominated just about every aspect of the game at Jacksonville.

The week was not easy after the wave of rumors that Urban Meyer, just beginning his time at Duval, I’d leave Florida to move to California and take on the newly available position of USC Head Coach. Meyer scrapped the idea, but clearly the start of his tenure with the Jags has not been ideal.

Now, JAX will host the undefeated Cardinals, and we might have to wait a long time to see the first win of the new Meyer-Lawrence era.
