Five games from week 9 have already been played in the Super Bowl

With the expansion of the regular season, week 9 represents just half of the schedule. However, the ninth day of the championship will have a five-game card between clubs that already met in the Super Bowl.

Jets in Indianapolis

The opening game of Thursday Night Football commemorates the duel between Johnny Unitas and Joe Namath at the end of the 1969 campaign. On that occasion, the Jets beat the Colts in the Orange Bowl and that dominance is maintained in the postseason as New York leads the confrontations with a balance of 3-1 ─ however, in the regular season Indianapolis leads the series with 42 victories and 29 setbacks.

Patriots in Carolina

In 2003 the Patriots won the second Super Bowl in their history by defeating the Panthers by a score of 32-29. That duel, starred by Tom Brady and Jake Delhomme, is the only one in the playoffs between both clubs and, due to Carolina’s short life in the NFL, they only have six games in the regular season (Charlotte’s team lead 2-4 ).

Broncos in Dallas

The Broncos’ first trip to the Super Bowl occurred in the 1977 season and on that occasion Denver was defeated 27-10 against Roger Staubach and his Cowboys. That is the only postseason meeting between the two franchises and in the regular season they have met 12 times with a balance of 8-4 in favor of the Colorado club.

Packers in Kansas City

The first Super Bowl in history pitted Bart Starr and Len Dawson with victory for Green Bay. After that commitment, held at the Los Angeles Coliseum, the Packers and Chiefs have met 12 times and Kansas City owns the crossroads with a 4-7-1 record.

Titans in Los Angeles

The opening Super Bowl of the third millennium saw “The Greatest Show on Turf” be crowned for the only time when Kevin Dyson stayed within a yard of the end zone. This is the fourth game to precede a dozen regular-season games, and like the Super Bowl, the Rams are the boss of the crossover with eight wins per four setbacks.
