safety Jayron Kearse has agreed terms with Dallas Cowboys for a two-year deal, the team announced Monday.

Financial details of the contract were not disclosed, but it is a deal worth up to $10 million, a source told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Kearse28, started 15 of the 16 games he appeared in for the cowboys last season, playing a key role in a defensive revamp last season to bring respectability back to a unit that was the worst in franchise history (473 points allowed) a year earlier.

Signed for one season and a little over a million dollars last year, there was not much talk about the addition of Kearse to the cowboys in March 2021. But, he finished the season as the franchise’s leading tackler, with 101 total tackles.

Before last season, Kearsewho had played four years for the minnesota vikings and had split his 2020 season for the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravenshad never started more than seven games in a season or amassed more than 56 tackles in a season, spending most of his time on special teams.

He reached the league for the Vikes as a seventh-round pick — No. 144 overall — in the 2016 NFL Draftcoming from the Clemson University.

In his first season in Dallas, Kearse He was in charge of commanding defensive plays on the field for most of the games. Also, he had a sack, seven sacks for loss, 10 quarterback rushes, a fumble recovery, two interceptions, and 10 pass breakups.
