Dak Prescott makes Cowboys fans dream of the NFL title

Not long ago, we heard daily debates on the radio about sports about whether Dak Prescott was a good quarterback.

Every pass from the Dallas Cowboys quarterback was analyzed under a microscope.

There was a portion of the fan base that could never get over the fact that Prescott took Tony Romo’s job in 2016 due to injury and never left it.

Those people overlooked the fact that Romo’s best friend, former coach Jason Garrett, gave the job to Prescott and Romo’s other best friend, tight end Jason Witten, never said a word in public or private about that Romo’s move was wrong.

Well, all of Prescott’s critics have been collectively silenced.

He has muzzled them with his steady progression from good player to great player in the last six years.

Yes, Prescott is an elite gamer these days by whatever standard or metric he chooses to use.

Right now, he should be the favorite to win the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Now, there are other quality candidates like Kyler Murray from Arizona, Lamar Jackson from Baltimore, Tom Brady from Tampa Bay, Aaron Rodgers from Green Bay and Josh Allen from Buffalo.

But Prescott is having the best year when you consider what he overcame just to make it in time for the first game of the season.

Once again, the MVP is more than statistics, although his statistics are phenomenal and the Cowboys are winning.

Only undefeated Arizona (6-0) has a better record than Dallas.

Prescott, who has led the Cowboys to five straight wins, has completed 73.1% of his passes for 1,813 yards with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions.

He runs an offense that leads the NFL in scoring (34.2 points), yards (460.8) and yards per play (6.58).

He is the best player in the best offense of one of the best teams.

Prescott is doing this a year after dislocating his ankle, forcing him to miss the final 11 games last year.

For a normal guy, this can be a two or three year rehab.

Prescott returned for training camp in July.

Clearly, he will be the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year.

The fact that Prescott is a viable MVP candidate also means that he can expect these Cowboys to end their 25-year drought of not advancing to the National Conference Championship Game.

Prescott is only 28, so it’s legitimate to expect another decade of soccer excellence from him.

Prescott cannot be fooled by disguising covers or using elaborate lightning attacks.

Understand all the nuances of this offense and how to use it to attack each defensive scheme.

Prescott runs the offense, most of the time from the scrimmage line, and apparently always puts the Cowboys on the perfect play to attack defense.

Prescott is an elite quarterback, of that there is no longer any doubt.
