Cardinals focus on kids plan to grow followers in Mexico says Cantu

Mexico, Nov 20 (EFE).- Rolando Cantú, former player and current international business manager of the Cardinals, stated this Sunday that his team’s main objective is to penetrate the taste of Mexican children to increase their followers in the country.

“The main objective in which we apply ourselves since the NFL announced its internationalization plan is the growth of our fan base, which we have focused on children,” Cantú told Efe.

The arizona cardinals They are one of the nine NFL teams that in December 2021 received permission to carry out sponsorship marketing, digital and face-to-face marketing, and activations of children’s and youth American football in Mexico.

The native of Monterrey, Nuevo León, explained that the Play 60 clinics that the Cardinals held in Mexico City last week with dozens of children, who practiced football for 60 minutes, are the way to achieve their goal.

“We approach the little ones who start playing American football because if you manage to connect with them and they identify with the team from that moment you have them hooked for the rest of their lives; those are the moments that we are attacking,” he pointed out.

Rolando Cantú was the first Mexican, in a position other than kicker, to play in an NFL game, he did so with the Arizona Cardinals in the 2005 season against the indianapolis colts.

Cantú led the Play 60 activities with the Mexican children in which the cheerleaders from Arizona and the Cardinals mascot, Big Red, a botarga of a cheerful red cardinal that wears the team’s uniform, also participated.

“We have several commercial alliances, clinics and camps in different sports venues. There we promote the coexistence of children with players, former players, the mascot and the cheerleaders of the team.”

These activities are part of the promotion of the party among the san francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals next Monday corresponding to week 11 of the 2022 NFL season that will take place at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.

This game is part of the series of five international matches that the league has scheduled this year outside the United States, three were in England and the most recent, last week, in Germany.

The Cardinals’ international business manager predicted that if the seahawks and Bucs, from week 10, held at the Allianz Arena in Munich, impacted the NFL for the atmosphere it generated, San Francisco-Arizona will surprise them even more.

“If the league was impressed with the response that existed in the Allianz Arena from the fans, let them wait to see the size of the response and atmosphere that they will find this Monday at the Azteca Stadium.”

Rolando Cantú recognized the penetration that the NFL has had in the European fans, but stressed that it is still far from the number of followers that follow the teams in the league in Mexico.

“The NFL knows that outside the United States its biggest fans are in Mexico. This encourages players and the league to leave with a pleasant taste in their mouths after each game at the Azteca; this will extend the presence of the NFL with more parties in this country”.
