5 Keys to the Game: Cowboys vs. Packers – Week 10

It’s time to confront the past.

After thirteen seasons at the helm of the legendary Vince Lombardi team and the sacred tundra of Lambeau Field, the now manager of Jerry Jones’ team returns to the stage of his glory.

For McCarthy, it’s going to another game on the 2022 schedule. But for everyone else, it’s safe to assume this isn’t just a regular-season game.

Throughout the week he was asked one after another about the importance of his return, and even when his aspiration is to say that there is not much to look for, it is obvious that leaving the legendary arena with a victory is something that simply and simply does not has a nickname after his departure in the middle of the season in 2018.

For starters, it’s the first time a head coach from the legendary team’s past has returned to face these same Packers, a team that opened the long history of the league that eventually became the National Football League (NFL) that we know today.

Now, Matt LaFleur’s team arrives in a very precarious situation, after losing five in a row where the real end is having lost by the laughable score of 15-9 against the poor Detroit Lions, being one of the worst defensive among the 32 teams in the league.

The MVP of 2020 and 2021, quarterback Aaron Rogers, seems to have lost his magic. The departure of Davonte Adams has resulted in a real catharsis that neither he nor club president Mark Murphy himself could have imagined.

The likes of Sammy Watkins, Allen Lazard and tight end Robert Tonyan have been no help to him in replacing Adams, and it’s now under the white-hot spotlight of the league’s general fan base that things have gotten pretty grim.

These Packers come in as the league’s 14th total offense, 14th in the rush and 15th in the air. On defense there are six total, 26 against the run and two against the pass. Their Sunday rival trails 22nd overall offense in the league, 11 on the run and 25th passing, while Dan Quinn’s defense is 10th overall, 24th on the run and 4th on the pass.
