Wheelchair Basketball Club receives sports equipment

In a simple act carried out at the Abraham Milad Gymnasium in Curicó, the Cenlitcur club in Curicó received support from the Ministry of Education, valued at 1 million 294 thousand pesos.

Since 2013, the Curican Club Cenlitcur dedicated to the practice of wheelchair basketball has been representing the Maule Region in regional and national tournaments of Paralympic sport.
In the return to training after Curicó advanced to phase 4 of the Step by Step Plan, the team has been in a leveling process in the physical aspect attentive to the sporting events that appear on the agenda.
The Seremi del Deporte, Alejandra Ramos Sánchez, accompanied them and delivered quality sports equipment “together with the Provincial Presidential Delegate we have met with this group of Paralympic athletes who have carried the flag of our region in national competitions. The squad is made up of 16 players.
Due to labor issues, they adapt to training 3 times a week, after 7:00 p.m., for which the Abraham Milad Gymnasium gives them a space at no cost.

QUALITY OF LIFE IS IMPROVED

In this regard, the Provincial Presidential Delegate of Curicó, Roberto González Olave, pointed out that “promoting sport is always positive for people’s health. For this reason, together with the Seremi del Deporte, Alejandra Ramos, we delivered the sports implementation to Cenlitcur, where 16 athletes from Curicans with disabilities will be directly benefited. Once again, the Government of Chile through the National Institute of Sports, IND, is providing this important support to sports organizations in the Province of Curicó with which it seeks to continue encouraging more adults and young people to join sports practices and thereby improve their quality of life, “said the government official.
The captain of the Cenlitcur team, Rodrigo Toledo, recounted his recent experience in the Para-Rafting World Championship that took place in France, another discipline that he is practicing.
