“We have to maintain character throughout the game”

After a month without playing and still not at 100%, Bola Germán Silvarrey returned to the courts and from his hand came the triple that ended up giving the victory to Sayago against 25 de Agosto. After the game, he spoke with Básquet Total.

When giving his impressions of the match, he commented: “It was a very difficult game, as the previous games that we lost have been costing us, that we have many ups and downs, we are not finding a regularity of play. Winning to continue improving is good, capable of giving us a better mental boost. But we still have to work a lot ”.

He was very critical when referring to the attack on Sayago: “We didn’t have a good game offensively, especially. Them neither. It was not a showy or flashy game and the defenses were quite good. We had a game plan, we want to impose our way of playing and it is not happening to us for many minutes in games. We plug in for a few minutes, then we lose ourselves, we lose focus. What we can rescue is that we are having rebellion to bring the games, to fight them and always have the match within reach. We can rescue that, but we have a lot of work to do to find a consistency in the rotation, in the minutes of all the players we have, that we rotate and we can keep the level high because that is what is going to make us dangerous as a team ” .

Regarding the aforementioned rebellion, he said that it was what emerged in the last quarter: “From the hand of Emiliano (Bonet), Mateo (Dogliotti), Joaquín (Jones). We sometimes put ourselves in situations that harm us, but we also have the virtue that we get out of difficult moments with attitude, with defense, with character. Ideally, we would show that throughout the game. We have to maintain character throughout the game and that way we will not reach the end of the game, we will be able to arrive calmly or otherwise. Today we had to win, we reached this situation and the good thing for us is that we were able to close it in our favor. We have to work hard to be able to maintain our way of playing in games ”.

When talking about how he felt on his return to the courts, he said: “I am still not physically well. I have been practically unemployed for a month. As far as I could, I tried to support the team with the few minutes that I was going to have on the court and to be able to give my teammates concentration and order. I knew that I was not going to be able to run or defend at the best level, because in reality I still lack. From the injury I am recovered, but physically I have a long way to go. At times I could have done well, maintain order, try to put them in the right place with the leadership. But the biggest work was done by the young people who were the ones who played the most, not me ”.

He also spoke of the ball that defined the game. “I don’t know if it weighed a lot or not. I grabbed it and it just gave me to throw away, I couldn’t even think about it (laughs). He entered, we won, but what we have to learn, as I said before, is not to reach the finals like this. What matters most to me is achieving a game identity and a level of concentration that makes us reach the end of the game more liberated. If later we win it with a shot in the hour, spectacular, but if not, it will be celebrated the same. If we want something more in this championship, we have to bet on something more than we did last year and we have to achieve other things ”.
