On January 24, 2020, residents of the town of Cerros de Vera found Carlos María Alves dead, 2 years after his murder, the police have not yet found the culprit.
CAMBIO interviewed a niece of the deceased who claimed that her uncle was killed with a knife in the early morning of January 24. Alves lived alone in a MEVIR home, he was retired, he was 73 years old, he did some temporary jobs in ranches, he was a very respectful person and loved by the neighbors.
According to the coroner, the death was between 2 and 3 on the 24th.
The relative said that the police never reported anything concrete, they said they were looking for the weapon with which the murder was committed and the killer’s clothes, they interviewed some local residents, but the procedure was very superficial, none of the people interviewed by the police testified in court.

ANOTHER UNSOLVED CASE
Alves’ niece said that she tried everything to continue the investigation, she met with the minister of the interior at the time, the late Jorge Larrañaga, who delegated 3 people to work on the case, one of them was the Chief Commissioner Miguel Moreira, who did an excellent job, but in a few months was replaced from his position, apparently the file was lost, that statement would have been made by a police officer and that they were going to make a new file, he added.
Later he requested an interview with the Chief Commissioner Giovani Bacci, he had a file, but the relative could not see it, at this moment I do not know what the police are still working on because the person who supposedly killed my uncle is still in the place assured .
Some neighbors said they saw a man leaving Alves’ home at a certain time in the morning, there are people who know what happened, but out of fear they do not want to speak.
