The good memory of China 2019
In his last participation in a World Cup, that of China 2019, the National Team reached nothing less than the runner-up, led by the Bahia coach Sergio Hernández and with notable performances by Facundo Campazzo, Luis Scola, Marcos Delía and Patricio Garino, among others. Just like that time, the World Cup event will qualify directly for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games to the two best American teams, the two Europeans and those that finish highest in Africa, Asia and Oceania.
Argentina / Uruguay could not be
It is worth remembering that Argentina it was together with Uruguay the only alternative to host the World Cup, after Russia and Turkey lower their candidacies. Five venues had been proposed from the Río de la Plata: City of Buenos Aires, Córdoba Mar del Plata, Mendoza and Montevideo; but finally the Asian trio made up of the Philippines (with four stadiums; three in Manila and one in Bulacán), Japan (based in Okinawa) and Indonesia (Jakarta) was chosen. It will be the first time that a World Cup of the category has been played in different countries.
80 to 30
In total, 80 teams will compete for the 30 places at stake for the World Cup. For Europe there will be 12 tickets (to be distributed among 32 countries), 7 for America (16 countries), 6 for Asia / Oceania (16 countries) and 5 for Africa (16 countries). As for the hosts, only Japan and the Philippines are directly classified, being that Indonesia must finish in the top eight of the next Asian Cup to get their ticket.
